Kapofari took the patient from Singapore to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and the donor’s kidney was harvested, where he stayed full-term.
The rescuer then made an emotional decision to donate the organ.
“Not trying it was the best decision they could make to honor the wishes and wishes to donate their organs,” Kadofari said.
The findings minimise the value of donor organs when possible, Kadofari said, and especially in situations where a donor organ donation is not available.
